Five Ways Education can Change the World

It’s sad how some of us ignore the importance of education. We often ignore the benefits that we have gained from having access to educational institutions. Some of us forget that education is a privilege and there are people all around the globe who wish to finish studying and pursue their career but do not have the opportunity like ours.
(NDCA) NSU Development & Cultural Association- North America wants to create an awakening among the populace. We want to open the minds of the people and see how providing the youth of far-flung and underprivileged communities’ access to institutionalized education could make this world a better place.
Do you know how?

  • Education helps individuals out of poverty.
Most people aim to finish school to pursue a good career. When individuals become literate, one can craft his dream in his mind. They would want to achieve their dream and get a stable job to alleviate their families and free them from poverty. By helping NDCA in building schools in impoverished communities, we can give the youth a chance to dream for themselves and for their families.
  • Education reduces infant mortality rate.
Sufficient educational background has a direct relation to an individual’s physical health. Illiteracy makes an individual vulnerable to health problems. Moreover, women who fail to receive primary education lack the ability to care for themselves during pregnancy and for their infants when already born. This results to a great mortality rate among communities without sufficient educational institutions.
  • Education empowers people.
Knowing our rights come with the education we get at school. Educated people are expected to know their rights and obligations well. With adequate learnings, we get to know our status in the society. We learn to have our own stand on issues and we become aware of the things we can and cannot do.
  • Education makes the world safer.
People who have failed to have access to educational instructions are vulnerable to hate speech and violence. Some easily ignore the laws in the society and are overshadowed by greed or fear. On the other hand, educated people know the limit of their rights. They know where they are supposed to be and how they are supposed to act, in a legal manner.
  • Education teaches us how to take care of the environment.
The most important thing that education does is teaching us how important our natural resources are and how to take care of them. By studying, we become aware of what our environment provides us. Through our teachers, professors, and mentors, we also come to know of the environmental challenges that our present world is facing. Hence, we start to appreciate the little things in our surroundings and to care for them even in our own little ways.

We can change the world in a positive way by providing opportunities to the underprivileged. And giving them access to education is the best gift we can give to the youth.
